A Streetcar Named Desire
California Institute of the Arts, BB3
Written by Tennessee Williams
Produced by James Franco, Deborah LaVine
It is a non-traditional staging of the classic Tennessee Williams play, A Streetcar Named Desire. Through the One Act to Cinematic Event Class (instructed by Deborah Lavine and James Franco), this staging combine live performance with multimedia to create a truly encompassing experience.
Eight directors bring their distinct vision to individual scenes, while the actors themselves are rotated throughout all character pallets within the play. The results creates a diverse landscape from existing trope, allowing the production to create a redefined reflection on masculinity, femininity, and sex versus desire.
